Best exercise for weight loss?

i used to run 5days a week for 1hr and burn 800-1000calories a day.
now i ride on my stationary bike for 1hr 5days a week and burn 600-700cal.
is this good for burning fat/slim legs?
also does a stationary bike have the same affect as riding a bike.
i guess what i am really saying is is riding a stationary bike good for weight loss.
